Laboratory of immunology

Laboratory of immunology (head scientist – Dr. A. Žvirbliene) is the only laboratory in Lithuania that has an installed and successfully applied hybridoma technology. All steps of work are carried out: from animal immunization to extraction of ascites and monoclonal antibody characterization. Monoclonal antibodies were obtained for fight against various antigens: human immunoglobulins, recombinant cytokines, receptors, virus proteins, etc. Some hybridomas were developed upon the request of foreign partners.

Laboratory stores approximately 30 lines of human and animal cells (excluding hybridomas). It includes the ones that can be applied in detection in vitro of cytokine biological activity. Laboratory requires cell lines and prepared in vitro methods for detection of biological activity of the following human cytokines: IL-2, IL-3, IFN-a, b, g, TNF-a, G-CSF, EPO.

Laboratory of Immunology also conducts modern studies in molecular biology: epigenetic research of various diseases, DNA typing of human, plant, yeast and prokaryotes, detection of viruses and bacteria via methods of molecular biology. Laboratory of Immunology offers the following services:

Apart from other equipment, Laboratory of Immunology owns modern fluorescent microscope OLYMPUS IX-70 with digital camera and computer with image analysis program Image Pro-Plus.
