Prof. A. Lundkvist, working in Microbiology and Tumor Biology Center of Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, studies the following infectious agents: hantaviruses, flaviviruses, Crimean – Congo hemorrhagic fevers, SARS and bird flu viruses. Technologies of hantaviruses, flaviviruses, as well as hemorrhagic fevers viruses, flu viruses diagnostics are to be developed. Studies of bird flu transfer mechanisms are performed; molecular reproduction mechanisms of West Nile virus are explored; a search of inhibitors of SARS virus. New methods of virus infectivity are to be created, in order to identify and characterize genetical markers of virus pathogenesis.
