Phytoplasms

Phytoplasms are very small bacteria, surrounded by a single membrane. In contrast to other bacteria, they do not have a cell wall. Phytoplasms do not have certain ways of biosynthesis, they do not synthesize compounds necessary for survival, and therefore, they have to receive these substances from plants and insects, in which they parasitize. Phytoplasms cause many plant diseases. Symtoms of such diseases include yellow and smaller leaves and slower growth of plants.
